A national platform for Scotland's best young business builders

The JCI Scotland Creative Young Entrepreneur (CYE) Programme is a national pitch competition that identifies, celebrates, and amplifies Scotland's most innovative young entrepreneurs. Open to JCI members and non-members.

Real businesses only

CYE evaluates existing, active businesses — not ideas or concepts. Your business must have been trading for at least 3 months.

Open to everyone

You do not need to be a JCI member to apply. The programme is open to any entrepreneur aged 18–40 domiciled in Scotland.

National recognition

Scotland's winner is named on stage at the JCI Scotland National Conference and promoted across our national media.

European pathway

Scotland's national winner will go on to represent Scotland at the JCI European Conference 2027.

Could this be you?

To apply for CYE Scotland 2026, you must meet all of the following criteria.

✓  Aged 18–40

You must be between 18 and 40 years old at the time of applying.

✓  Domiciled in Scotland

Scotland must be your permanent home or the country you consider your primary base.

✓  Active business

Your business must have been active for at least 3 months.

✓  Not a JCI board member

You must not be a current board member at International, National or Local JCI level.

✓  One applicant per business

Only one representative per business may apply, even if it is co-founded.

✓  English language

All applications and presentations must be submitted and delivered in English.

Screening Period
Our judging panel reviews all submissions. The Top 5 finalists are selected based on the quality of the business plan submitted.

Top 5 Finalists Announced
Scotland's Top 5 finalists are publicly revealed. Each finalist is featured individually.

5 September 2026
Final Judging Day
All 5 finalists present their businesses to the judging panel. Further details will be confirmed with shortlisted applicants.

Winner Announced
Scotland's Creative Young Entrepreneur 2026 is revealed on stage at the JCI Scotland National Conference.

What to prepare before you apply

The application form takes around 10 minutes. Have these three things ready before you start.

Your business story

A clear description of what your business does, the problem it solves, and what makes it different.

Key business metrics

Your trading period, revenue figures if comfortable sharing, number of customers or users, and key milestones.

Your business plan

A document covering your business overview, target market, revenue model, growth strategy, and impact. PDF or Word, max 10MB.

Scotland's national winner is nominated to represent Scotland at the JCI European Conference 2027, competing among Europe's top young entrepreneursfor a chance to win a $5,000 prize.

Still unsure? Here are the questions we get asked most.

Do I need to be a JCI Scotland member to apply?
No. The programme is open to everyone aged 18–40. You do not need to be a JCI member.
My business has only been running for 4 months — can I still apply?
Yes. The minimum requirement is 3 months of active trading, so you are eligible.
Does it cost anything to apply?
No. The application is completely free.
What does domiciled in Scotland mean?
It means Scotland is your permanent home or the country you consider your primary base. You do not need to be physically present every single day — it means Scotland is where you are based.
My business is co-founded — can both of us apply?
Only one representative per business may apply. You need to designate one person as the official applicant and presenter.
What happens after I submit?
You will receive a confirmation email. The screening period runs 1–10 August 2026. We will contact you after that date to let you know the outcome.
